According to a recent study by the European Heart Journal, the number of deaths caused by air pollution is double what was estimated in previous studies. This implies that environmental pollution causes many more deaths than smoking. The WHO says that 7,000,000 people die every year from air pollution and life expectancy has been reduced by at least two years. Also, pollution has terribly harmful effects on health that do not always cause death, but that undoubtedly worsen our physical condition and our quality of life.
